The House mouse is the most common found around dwellings. All though other species of mice to exist in Ontario. The average size including the tail 175mm with a 90mm tail. The tail is slightly longer than the body. They are a brown-grey colour in appearance with a grey abdomen. They are curious and will often investigate new objects and things put into a territory.

They prefer to nest indoors but during the summer months they will nest outside. They are found ranging from basements to attics. For their nests they prefer floor joints, between walls, insulation and other concealed places around the house. A territory is generally 12 metres in diameter of the nest site. They prefer seeds and grains but if other food is available they will eat it.

General life span is one year. A female can have up to 8 litters with 5-6 young per litter in a year.
